Billy Gilmour Stars as Scotland Keep Euro Hopes Alive

Heroic Performance on International Debut

Match Report of Scotland vs England

Scotland's hopes of reaching the knockout stages of Euro 2020 remain intact after they held England to a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Wembley Stadium on Friday.

Billy Gilmour, making his first competitive start for his country, was the standout performer for Scotland, dictating play from midfield with his composure and incisive passing.

England had the better chances in the first half, with Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling both going close, but Scotland goalkeeper David Marshall produced a string of fine saves to keep the hosts at bay.

Scotland grew into the game in the second period and created several opportunities of their own, with Callum McGregor and Lyndon Dykes spurning good chances.

The result leaves Scotland in third place in Group D, level on points with England and the Czech Republic, who drew their match earlier on Friday. All three teams now have a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages, with Scotland facing Croatia in their final group game.
